My mother-in-law Joy Ann Leach (nee Berry) passed
away peacefully at the Elisabeth Bruyère Health
Centre at 7:30 p.m. after a courageous thirteen
year battle with cancer. Dear daughter of the
late Charles Edward Berry and Mary Christine Berry
(nee Nicholson). Wife of late William Edward Woodruff
and late Percy Leach. Companion and best friend
of William Weatherup. Cherished Mother of Edward
(Pennylynn) and Robert. Proud and loving Nanny
of Adam, Amanda, Sharilyn, Tyler and Brianna.
Sister of Earl (Lois) Berry of Pembroke and the
late Bud Berry. Sister-in-law of Marjorie Berry.
Joy was a retired employee of Sears Canada and
very much involved in the Legion. She will be
missed by her many nieces, nephews, friends and
acquaintances and will be remembered for her generosity,
friendships, spirit, and razor-sharp wit. A memorial
for Friends was at the West Chapel of Hulse, Playfair
and McGarry, 150 Woodroffe Avenue at Richmond
Road on Friday October 6 from 10 am until service
time in the Chapel at 12 noon. A Reception followed.
Her ashes were buried with her first husband at
Pinecrest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, we had
asked for donations in Joy's memory to the Canadian
Cancer Foundation. My tribute
to a beautiful woman, mother, grandmother and
dearest friend.
