In 2005, a move to the
country with the intention of pursing greater things I added
a 2 year old sable bitch which is co-owned with Kim &
Peter. She's 1 point shy of her Canadian championship. She's
Laureate Lancome, "L'Annie" (Am/Can/Jap Ch. Laureate
Explorer ROMC grand daughter) With limited showings,
we have been able to show her to RWB 5x
with my new found "love interest" it forced me to
get a registered CKC kennel name. I choose Ruffleith - "ruff",
being the last portion of my married surname, as well ruff
being the majestic mane of the sheltie, and now that I think
about it... its the sound of what a dog makes too. I wanted
something scottish to keep with the Sheltie history, so I
choose the word "Leith", being the gateway to Edinburgh,
Scotland. Leith has a long and prominent role in Scottish
history. As the major port access to Edinburgh, Leith has
served as the staging point for many of Scottish history's
significant events - this appealed to me, as I hope to play
a future prominent role in sheltie history. I can dream can't
I?

My first show and handling
experience with L'Annie was at the OKC spring 2005 shows in
Richmond, which we placed 3rd in her class. This was not a
huge feat from L'Annie's previous wins by all means, but I
was ecstatic with our achievement.
In 2006, With more space,
and a love for shelties what do you do? co-own another and
watch it grow! She was 8 weeks old, the last born Canadian
Litter for Ch. Laureate Landslide, and her name is Laureate
Rachael Ray, who we affectionally call "Rayna"
or "Ray Ray".
We put 2 Canadian points
on her in summer of 2007. My daughter showed her to 1st in
Class for 9-12 mnths sweeps.
Co-bred with Laureate Shelties -
sired by BIS/BPIS AM/CAN CH Shelhaven Alaris ROMC, Rayna presented
us with 4 show hopefuls from our first litter of 6.
As much as we are newcomers to the Shetland
Sheepdog World of Showing and breeding, quality, standards
and temperment are never comprimised. We
are very active in Showing our Dogs.
Pictured here is our first homebred Champion
-
CH
Ruffleith's Remy Martin. At 12 mnths of age, "Rémi",
received his Canadian Championship. A few weeks later he went
Best of Breed and took a Group
2nd.
The 2nd Champion from this litter is "Portia"
BPIG
CH Ruffleith's
Tinta Rufette who was awarded Best
Puppy in Group in her first showing.
CH
Ruffleith's Rose in Bloom - "Rosé"
's second appearance in the show rings lead her to 5 points
prior to receiveing a Group 4th
placement. She has been awarded multiple BOS and as of August
16th, 2009 she is the thrid Champion from this very special
litter.
Our last hopeful from this litter "Juno"
(Laureate Alinea) is owned by Laureate. We look forward to
seeing this beautiful girl hit the show rings in the near
future.
Rayna finished her championship
in April of 2009 with handler Kim Wendling. In July 2009 L'Annie
received her Championship and ended her career with a BOS.
She is now owned by the Bedfords.
